What is AMP and how to use it

AMP stands for Accelerated Mobile Pages, a project made by Google and Twitter that aims to offer fast-loading mobile pages and enhance website mobile performance.

The AMP should enhance the loading speed of your articles on mobile devices, making it blazing fast or almost instant. However, on the other hand, you don’t really have complete control over your content design and stuff like that as the AMP technology strips design and all unneeded elements. Google is forcing this technology from the start, and it even gives prime time in search for a website that is already implemented AMP.

How to install AMP on a WordPress website

The best way to add AMP support to your WordPress-powered website is to use AMP plugin developed by Automattic.

When you enable this plugin, all the post URLs on your site will have a /amp/ version. So you can add /amp/ to the end of the URL, and you’ll see the AMP version of a particular post or page. The plugin adds a standard meta tag in the head of your normal pages, making it possible for Google and others to recognize these pages exist.

MP plugin also introduces a new template and a Theme Customizer, so you can directly change the styling to make it look more personalized.

Once you install and activate the plugin, it should work out of the box, and your AMP pages will be set up automatically.
