Whether you’re just starting your blog or site or want to edit the existing site title or tagline on WordPress, you can with this quick and easy how-to tip. Now, there are two ways for you to change site title in WordPress and I’ll explain them both. It’s up to you to choose the one that’s easier for you.
Change WordPress site title from Appearance
Just follow these four steps we recommend, and your WordPress site title is instantly the way you want it.
- Go to your WordPress dashboard
- Go to Appearance on your left sidebar and click on Customize
- Go to Site Identity, change or edit your title
- Click Publish or Save Changes (depending what Theme you use).
The same way to change tagline WordPress, as well.
You’re all done!
You can use the same steps to change or edit your WordPress tagline (site description), too.
Change WordPress site title from Settings
Similar to previous one example, just with fewer steps to cover 🙂
- Go to your WordPress dashboard
- Go to Settings and within the General option, change or edit both your site title and WordPress tagline and click Save.
Congratulations! You have successfully changed your site title in WordPress!
The first option has a few more steps, but the change is visible instantly from the Preview on the right side of the screen. Option two has fewer steps, but you need to open the site in new tab to see the changes.
Now, bear in mind that these kind of changes are recommended only when you’re starting with a new blog or site. For a business or a blog that is already running it could be confusing and misleading to do so. Moreover, this move could jeopardize your visits, trust and credibility.
