Let’s face it, photo editing apps are life saviors! Quick to install, very reliable and valuable not only for on-the-go projects but for more serious ones, too! For all that time you can’t get to Photoshop or InDesign or whatever other software you’re using, these photo editing apps will replace them just nicely!

All of the photo editing apps on this list I’ve tried and used personally, both for Android and iOS phones. What’s good about them is that you can use them on-the-go and wherever you are at the moment. These photo editing apps provide excellent features and tricks that transform your pics into real art!

No matter if you’re doing something for Social Media, your website, or for the client, every one of them will give you the maximum of help. Just imagine you, for instance, using our Pinhole theme, which is pretty much photo-based. Any of these listed apps will help you pull out the best pics you can for your website, at any moment and in a few steps!

Without further delay, here are (by my choice) the 14 best photo editing apps for your smartphone.

Adobe Photoshop Express

Love Photoshop? You’ll adore this app of theirs! Adobe Photoshop Express is a quick and easy photo editor app for all on-the-go projects. Whether you need to fix something or work on a new visual – this app will help you. Compatible with both Android and iOS phones and it’s free!

Adobe Spark Post

Another cool and useful app from Adobe is this Spark Post app for iOS phones (soon to be on others). Using it, you’ll get a powerful app for creating stunning graphics. It lets you add text, graphics, various filters and, overall, to create unique and quality content. Also – free!

Camera+

One of the best apps for taking pics as well as editing them. Works as a camera within a phone, using it, you’ll feel like holding a real DLSR camera! Has many features that the initial phone camera doesn’t, very worth trying. Available only for iOS phones and tablets.
Price: $2.99 for iPhone and $4.99 for iPad

Canva

Who hasn’t heard of this multipurpose app, right? Canva (also available for iOS only) is your go-to app for creating literary EVERYTHING you need for your Social Media posting. And some! I’m talking about PPT slides, infographics, covers, geofilters, logos, posters, flyers, invitations and so much more! You don’t need any design knowledge to use Canva or create breathtaking unique visuals. It is a freemium app, meaning the paid feature opens much more features and possibilities, but even the free version has everything you need.

Facetune

The very first app that comes to our minds when someone mentions selfies. Facetune is an app for editing all those portraits and selfies! Just download it and do all the retouching you need to make face pics like from the magazine covers or runways. Just imagine you have a personal makeup artist and a design mag with you all the time! Or, what Roy Furchgott from the NY Times said: “Facetune helps you look your Hollywood best, even on photos taken on mobile phones.”
Price: $4.54 for Android, $3.99 for iOS

Fonta

This app isn’t one of those edit/filter ones. Instead, you use it to write on the images, to create those fabulous visuals and quotes, you know, the kind Instagram and Twitter love. Simple to use, you just upload your image, paste the text you want and play with it on the font type, clipart and such. And, if you’re short of inspiration, there’s a ton of predefined captions and sketches to choose from so, happy designing!

Fotor

This one is a free online design/editing app (a website too) that allows you to create multiple types of visuals. Something similar to Canva or, as BBC once stated, „Photoshop lite.“ Using it, you can not only create great cards, social media visuals, and thumbnails but collages as well. Since it’s free, go ahead and try it out asap.

So professional and rich and yet very simple to use – you’re missing a lot if you don’t have it already. A number of tools and filters for photo editing is beyond any imagination, which is why this video will speak for itself:
